How does it work?
The fine lines on your face are only a symptom. The underlying cause is the overuse of the muscle underneath the skin. What the muscle relaxant does is paralyse that muscle thus rendering it to unable to be used and contract. Therefore less contraction of the muscle means less contraction of the skin and as a result the skin will start to heal and the fine lines you see will fade away.
When should I come back?
It is important to come back after 2 weeks for a review appointment to check the progress and if any more injections need to be done.
What if all the wrinkles do not go away
It is not unheard of that sometimes the we do not get the result we want immediately. Skin takes time to recover. If there is still residual muscle activity causing those fine lines then we just add further little doses at the designated area.
Who shouldn’t get Muscle relaxant injections
People with:
- Allergies to human albumin, lactose and milk protein and sodium chloride.
- Neuro-muscular conditions such as Eaton Lambert Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis and Myasthenia gravis.
- Pregnancy or breast-feeding.
- Infection at injection site.
- Current or recent use of certain anibiotics suc as clindamycin.
