Dental Check-up & Clean Dulwich Hill 3

Emergency Dentist Dulwich Hill & Petersham

If you have ever had a toothache or broken a tooth, you know how frightening and painful it can be. Dental injuries are common, but they are never completely avoidable. Our family dentists, fortunately, provide same-day emergency care to get you out of pain as soon as possible.

Common Dental Emergencies include:

  • Broken or lost fillings — If old fillings are not replaced on a regular basis, they will gradually weaken and leak, predisposing them to fractures. If your filling falls out, we will need to replace it or cover the tooth with a crown. Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth, and schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Temporary filling material (from the chemist) can be used to limit sensitivity for a day or two.
  • Teeth that have been knocked out — Find your tooth and place it in a sealed container that is completely submerged in milk or contact solution or preferably your own saliva. Wash away visible debris, but do not scrub the roots clean, as this may prevent your tooth from being reinserted. Please arrive at our office within the hour.
  • Chipped Teeth — Follow the same steps as if you had a tooth knocked out. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if necessary. Apply a clean compress to the bleeding area and change it as needed.
  • Teeth Loosening — Traumatic injuries can cause teeth to become loose in their sockets. Unless it’s a baby tooth, resist the urge to move or extract it. Please contact our office to schedule an emergency appointment. In most cases, we will brace the tooth against a neighboring tooth to allow it to heal.
